We Moved & I'm Almost 31 Weeks

We finally moved!

We were hoping to be out of our townhouse by the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  We moved all of our big furniture and most of our stuff the Saturday before that, but we couldn't sleep in our new place until the official closing.  So, we camped in our house on a mattress in the living room...

Well, after a terribly frustrating number of days, we were finally able to sleep in our new house on Wednesday, Nov 28 (yes, that's 11 days after we moved the majority of our stuff!).  Yikes.  We even had to take cold showers in a cold house the night before because we had already transferred utilities and the gas was turned off in the old place.

So, needless to say, it was a busy/stressful time, and I don't use those words lightly.  I have repented of the nearly 2 weeks of eating out for almost every meal by cooking 4 nights in a row!  Waffles and eggs on Sunday, Chicken Teriyaki Stir-fry on Monday, Pasta with homemade tomato sauce (from those green tomatoes picked from our garden in October--I couldn't believe that they ripened enough to make a tasty sauce!  Just look how beautiful.  That bowl is bigger than it appears.  I finished cooking some rotini pasta in the sauce and garnished with EVOO and Parmesan.  So yummy.  This was my inspiration recipe for the sauce),

and Stromboli last night (which I did follow the recipe almost completely).  Very yummy!  I highly recommend it.  I've also made my favorite granola bar recipe inspiration (with chocolate) to break in that new oven too.

Hylan might have actually bought me a housewarming Blendtec present and I have been exceptionally pleased with it's power and function.  We've already indulged in a brown cow (rootbeer float blended), a variety of smoothies, and it helped me make that deliciously smooth tomato sauce.  Wow, I sure was missing out, wasn't I?

Okay, so anyway.  We still have stuff to unpack and furniture that still needs to be delivered, but we do have a functioning living room and kitchen, and even have our treadmill and a TV set up in the "office" until we finish the basement and include a fitness room (I can't wait for that).

Also, we're temporarily sleeping in our guest room because we bought a bed! For our entire marriage, we have been sleeping on a King-sized mattress (on a frame and box springs, mind you) but with no headboard, footboard, side rails, etc. so we decided to finally upgrade and have already given away our mattress set (that is still in good condition).

I'm terribly sorry if this comes off at all braggy, but I'm also excited for the new recliners and reclining sofa for our living room.  It's going to be so comfy! Plus, I'm going to need something to rock baby Naomi quite soon.  :)

Needless to say, I have no Christmas decorations out, but maybe I'll be able to tackle that this weekend with Hylan's help.

Alright, so on to the pregnancy update.  Pictures are becoming increasingly unflattering, so I'm distracting you with my kitty in this one:

30 1/2 weeks

Tomorrow I'm 31 weeks.  Single digit weeks!  :)  Wow.  I'm sad that my fitness classes are ending next week, but I tell you that Powertone class really has been difficult to keep up with.  The heat, my heart rate, and the cramping--whew, it's getting to be a bit overwhelming, but of course Yoga always brings it back home and makes me feel so good.  I love that stuff and am so glad I know what to do and how to modify different poses.  I've already finished up Pilates at BYU, so that's good, though that has been a fun class to teach so I'll miss it.

I've needed lots of water lately because I start to cramp and ache in my belly when I'm dehydrated or have been on my feet too long.  My back has been killing me but I think that is as much from moving/unpacking boxes and cleaning as it is from the pregnancy.  Other than that, I noticed a little swelling in my right ankle for two days last week, but that has gone away, and luckily that is all of the swelling I've had so far!  I've had some heartburn (but I think of it more as throat cold than heartburn--it feels more like a cooling sensation than anything).  It seems to crop up more when I eat spicier foods or if I eat a little too much or too quickly.  I've only consumed one Tums this whole pregnancy!

Some days I do feel like I'm eating lots of food (growth spurt?) and other days it doesn't feel too abnormal, just a few extra calories.  It's all intuitive for me.

I really can't complain, but I tell you it is difficult to keep getting bigger and bigger.  I have to get up slower and much more methodically (especially when teaching).  I've been sleeping with a pillow on either side of me for most of this pregnancy so that when I flip over I have support for my knees or belly, but flipping over isn't as easy as 1,2,3 anymore.  It's also slightly awkward in our guest Queen sized bed.  I forgot how nice and spacious a King bed is!  :)

Well, if I haven't thoroughly bored you with this post, I've at least gotten some thoughts out of my head.  I'd like for it to snow, but not until we get our garage cleaned out so we can park our cars in there, and also so I can take a nicer picture of the exterior of our home (landscaping will have to wait until Spring because I don't think grass grows in December, ha ha!)  The interior of our home isn't quite picture-worthy, so I'm sorry if you live far away and can't come visit us yet.  So yeah, no pictures yet.  I never know if that is appropriate to post anyway.  I know some of you would like to see our home, but I don't want to come off as braggy either, you know?

We really do like it out here.  It's nice and quiet (no trains whizzing by, or loud neighbors) and it's just plain cozy.  I have much more kitchen storage, hence why I've been inspired lately to make stuff.  Christmas cookie baking here I come!

I hope your holidays are festive and calm!  Isn't it so much better when you can just relax and soak it all in?

I don't think you are being braggy at all! It's fun to talk about what's going on in your life and your blog is about you! So don't worry. Also you look adorable and great for 31 weeks. I so wish I could see you and your house in person! Miss you.
