The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe

And now I have five calendars because Betty Crocker sent me one too! Oh dear.

I have an announcement for all of you who live in Utah. There is a new place in Provo called:

"The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe"

and I'm convinced it's the sweetest place in Utah County.

Yum

To start off, I had been craving good quality premium hot chocolate and was recently extremely disappointed at Paradise Bakery by South Towne Expo. I don't know what kind of watery mess with whipped cream on top they are serving there, but it was horrible. And their food was overpriced. But that's another review.

At The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe, they have premium roasted cocoa bean hot chocolate that is too die for to be sure.

We're doing something completely unique and original. Selecting cocoa beans from different regions around the world, roasting them to perfection and serving them espresso style in our very own gourmet drinks. We are able to preserve the natural cocoa flavor that gives our drinks a bold, rich and roasted flavor. Served hot, chilled over ice or blended into a frozen creamy delight sure to cool you down (from thecocoabeancupcakecafe.blogspot.com).

I had the regular roasted cocoa bean hot chocolate, because you know the rest of the chocolate drinks will be good if that one is--kind of like how you can tell how good an ice cream brand is by its vanilla. I would have been happy just smelling my drink, which you have to do for a little while until it cools down enough to sip. However, delirious from the smell, I couldn't resist tasting, and despite singeing my tongue multiple times on the hot liquid, the chocolate flavor explosion that enveloped my taste buds overpowered the slight irritation and immediately catapulted me into a celestial realm. Now that's hot chocolate. That's what I had been craving.

Hylan ordered a steaming hot crème de menthe drink that tasted like a mint truffle and was a perfectly balanced sweet and minty concoction. It made him a happy customer. Our drinks were delicious and each "hit the spot" for our specific palettes. But the story can't end there.

For the pièce de résistance, Hylan selected, and we shared the jumbo (which wasn't really all that jumbo but was perfectly-sized) chocolate peanut butter cup cupcake. The chocolate cake was moist, chocolaty, and had hints of peanut butter cup essence. And the frosting. Oh, the frosting. It was silky, smooth, sparkling, sweet peanut butter goodness that filled our mouths and souls with sunshine and smiles. Really. We devoured and savored each delectable bite.

Tempted as I was, I resisted ordering another cupcake, even though the special is cupcake and a drink for $4.95. I left vowing to return again for more (it's going to take awhile to try each of their 40 flavors) and also to tell all my friends.

So friends, please go visit this place. It's tucked away in Brigham's Landing, an unfortunately difficult location (1774 North University Parkway#20 Provo, Utah). We must patronize this business. Please, I beg of you, go there to be delighted, because I want them to continue to be around so I can continue enjoy their magnificent morsels of heaven.

Check out their cupcake schedule:

FYI, any Rexburg folks out there, you are in luck, because The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe has a location there as well!

Three cheers for cupcakes and chocolate drinks! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!

Visit and please do let me know what you think!
