I've even perfected the homemade stovetop technique for making kettle corn (just a sprinkle of sugar over the the preheated oil and unpopped popcorn and lots of vigorous shaking). The only problem is that I haven't been able to find the mushroom kernals in the regular grocery store. And I like me some mushroom popcorn! I prefer the texture and find the flavor distributes better on the rounder surface!
Mushroom (l) and butterfly (r) popcorn.
The other day I noticed some gourmet natural kettle corn in the grocery store. It was a bonus that the company was based in Orem. So, I purchased a bag. Because I also love me some quick snacks.
Unfortunately, something was wrong when we tasted this popcorn. I had Hylan test it (just in case my taste buds were off from ingesting extra iron). He agreed. Acrid. Like a burnt kettle pot or oil. Just gnarly.
So, I did what any savvy consumer would do and politely notified the company that there was definitely something wrong with that particular batch of popcorn. I figured they might want to know that their product was not up to par.
And guess what? The nice customer service lady, Carrie, emailed me back. A few days later, look at what was sitting on my doorstep.
I honestly wasn't expecting such service. I thought maybe they would send me a coupon or invite me to get a replacement bag at their local shop, but nope. Hand delivered delicious gourmet popcorn.
So, thanks Sasha's Gourmet Popcorn!
