The Big Reveal

The results of the poll are in and we had 7 girl votes to 5 boy votes from the blog poll and 5 girl votes to 4 boy votes on Facebook (I'm not sure if some of those were duplicated).  So, the majority were in favor of a "she."

And it is a...

Chocolate for everyone!  :)

I couldn't be more thrilled!  Like I said a few posts ago, I actually would have been quite shocked if this baby were anything other than a girl because she was always meant to be named after my maternal grandmother: Naomi Evelyn Harper.  So, Naomi it is!  :)  Evelyn is also Hylan's paternal grandmother's name.  And actually my grandmother's real name is Evelyn Naomi Conger Hite, but she was always called Naomi, so it just makes sense to call her what we name her.

Anyway, this little girl was practicing her yoga poses in utero with her crossed legs and frog leg asanas until she finally moved into a position where we could see her (seriously took her like 15 minutes).  It was actually quite comical.  Hylan joked that she must be a feisty red-head.  Either that, or she was just being modest.  Ha ha!  We shall see.

So, everything with baby girl seemed to check out normally except for one thing.  Apparently I only have one artery and one vein going from the umbilical cord to the placenta.  The condition is called Single Umbilical Artery (SUA).  There are supposed to be two arteries and one vein.  Because everything else seems to look normal, there isn't terrible cause for worry, but it is something to monitor and be aware of and could be an issue, but hopefully it won't.  For more information about SUA, click here.

After the ultrasound, I promptly asked Hylan to take me to Kohl's so we could buy her a coming home outfit (even though I know my Mom and my sister will supply me with lots of clothes).  I thought it would be fun to have something that the two of us picked out.  This little combo only cost $6.00 with our $10.00 off coupon (I love how the receipt says: "you saved $20.01."  Sure makes you feel like a good shopper, even though I never would have spent $26.00 on two outfits that will probably only be worn a couple times in two weeks!)

Grey kitties, pink kitties, orange kitties, oh my!

I might just die of cuteness overload.  I showed our babycat Kingo the outfit and he seemed relatively amused by our choice.

Speaking of Kingo, he loves Naomi already.  I took this picture a couple weeks ago as proof.

Happiness complete!

Bummer that I was wrong on my theory... haha but YAY that it's a girl!!!!! I LOVED having a girl first. Every girl wants a girl so it's good to know that you get one!!! ;) Love the name! I love that animals know. My dog always knows when someone is pregnant. She will choose to lay by the person in the room that is pregnant first. Funny how that works!!

Congratulations. I somehow thought it was a girl but I don't think I voted in time. Love the name you picked out especially since I know your grandma.
