Are You a Proud Prune Eater?

I have a gripe about a common ill-conceived stereotype regarding the nutritional, antioxidant powerhouse, the incredible, edible prune!

What is the deal, people? Prunes aren't just for those more advanced in years. Prunes are for everyone! Did you know that ounce for ounce, prunes have more antioxidants than blueberries*? Yeah, "So when you need energy, antioxidants, potassium, fiber, or just an irresistibly delicious snack you can take anywhere...reach for Sunsweet Prunes" (from a Sunsweet Prune Package). And by the way, I have no trouble admitting I eat prunes. I don't have to dress them up fancy in a new name like "dried plums." No, I'm a proud prune eater (P.P.E.), and you should be too!

If you're not convinced, perhaps you should try something new like the lemon, orange, and/or cherry essence variety of prunes. The added flavoring enhances the naturally sweet and delicious taste of prunes.

Not only that, there are a myriad of recipes utilizing prunes. One of my favorites includes prune puree in a chocolate chip cookie recipe. They come out perfectly sweet, soft, and chewy.

So, let's drop the stereotype and stop being bafoons, by eating some delicious, nutritious, power-packed prunes.**

*Blueberries are a nutritional "super-food," so don't stop eating them. Remember "5 a day."

**Disclaimer: By nature of the subject, this blog had to have a little cheesy lingo. Thanks for reading!

They now have them wrapped up like little candies. Yummy! I'm a PPE as well. And everyone knows I don't need to enhance digestion!
